A Computerized Handgrip Strength Assessment Tool

An apparatus for performing a hand grip test and analyzing the test result comprising a hand load sensor for performing the hand grip test, the hand load sensor providing the electrical signal in response to gripping by a subject’s hand that is being tested; a signal conditioning means for amplifying and pre-conditioning the electrical signal; an input means for entering the subject’s information; a non-volatile storage means for storing the subject’s information and the subject’s hand grip test result and a database that allows the handgrip strength result to be analyzed according to age, sex, hand dominance, weight, and height; an output means; and a computing means providing a user interface through the input means and the output means for receiving operator’s command to perform one or more tasks comprising controlling the parameters of the hand grip test that is performed, performing the hand grip test, displaying the subject’s information and analyzing the test result.
